Cian O'Connor chalked up Ireland's second victory of the week at the four-star show in Basel when he won the speed class on the Irish-bred Irish Independent Echo Beach.
O'Connor's win comes hard on the heels of Jessica Kurten's first place with Castle Forbes Cosma in Thursday night's two-round competition. O'Connor also had a runner-up spot in the show's opening class with Splendor.
The Meath native piloted his Cavalier Royale mare round
the 11-fence course against challenges from Switzerlands's own
Clarissa Crotta and Germany's Lars Neiberg, but O'Connor just finished just under a second faster than runner-up Crotta.
