Cian O'Connor claimed a runner-up spot to Canada's Eric Lamaze on Castlemartin Stud's ten-year-old gelding Complete, while team-mate Marion Hughes brought Emelie Bjorkman's mare Good Lucky Girl home in fourth.
Both were competing in the second class of the day at the five-star show in Madrid, with O'Connor already having claimed a fourth place in the opening speed class with the eight-year-old mare Baloufina.
O'Connor and Hughes will join Captain David O'Brien and Cameron Hanley in the non-Super League Spanish Nations Cup on Saturday afternoon.
