Peter Charles proved Ireland's loss will be Great Britain's gain as he guided Murka's Pom d'Ami to the only quadruple clear round in the Pimms International Six Bar at the Royal Windsor Horse Show.

The 28-year-old opted to switch nationality a year ago after 16 years in the green coat, and he was the only rider among the seven survivors to go clear in the fourth and final round.

Both William Funnell and Spaniard Pascal Levy on Olargo could not manage the technical adjustments needed to clear the four-bar course and dislodged the final set of rails to share equal second.

While representing Ireland, Charles rode in two Olympics and won the 1995 Individual European gold medal.

He will make his British team debut in the forthcoming Nations Cup events in Madrid and St Gallen.
