Shane Breen and Cian O'Connor battled it out with Australia's Matt Williams for the Puissance prize at the Northern Ireland Horse Show in Belfast on Saturday, but it was Tipperary's Breen and Lyssegan Clover Diamond who emerged triumphant.

The three riders saw off all other competitors to finish on what
seemed to be the last jump-off with four faults apiece, but the
organisers allowed them one final round, and it was Breen who jumped clear, the other two having to retire with refusals at the wall, now topping a considerable 2.2 metres.

Meath-based O'Connor had already won earlier in the evening,
however, when setting what proved to be an unbeatable
pace of 45.86 in the WKD Speed Grand Prix with the chestnut mare Fraulein Semilla.

Only Conor Swail and Conduct came close, trailing O'Connor by just under two seconds.
