Cork's Billy Twomey did the honours for Ireland on the first day of the Dublin Horse Show, when he narrowly beat Belgium's Pieter Devos to take the Sports Council Classic with Tinka's Serenade.
Not far behind was Tipperary's Denis Lynch, who slotted Upsolon D'Ocquier into third place, while Edward Doyle and Cian O'Connor also featured in the top ten.
Capt. Shane Carey came within a whisker of catching America's Molly Ashe-Cawley when he slotted Cashla Bay into second place in the Speed Stakes, with Conor Swail and Conduct not far behind in fourth.
Cian O'Connor and Conahy Clover took sixth place, and Paul
O'Shea and The Patriot were two seconds behind, in seventh.
Twenty year-old Anthony Condon took a well-received second place in the day's opening speed competition with Winnie Jackson, just behind Germany's Heinrich Hermann Engemann, while Edward Doyle was in the prize money again with a fourth place on Amigo, and Edward Little placed seventh with Belvedier.
The Aga Khan Trophy competition takes place at the RDS on Friday.
