Jessica Kurten will be hoping to continue her fine form into Saturday afternoon's Madrid Grand Prix

Jessica Kurten racked up the best Irish result so far at this
weekend's five star show in Madrid, Spain - when taking second place this Saturday in the 1m40 speed class with her new nine year-old chestnut mare (Kalande de Grez).

Kurten was almost two seconds off the pace of Portuguese winner Luis Sabino Goncalves, who had also beaten her in Friday's Two-Phase competition at Madrid, both riders competing on the same horses.

The 37 year-old Irish rider will, however, be fielding her current
top horse - Castle Forbes Maike - for this afternoon's Madrid Grand Prix.

Kurten rode Maike to win the €22,000 Longines Grand Prix at la Baule, France, last weekend.
