Jessica Kurten has been named as The Irish Field showjumper of the year for the 2006 season.
The Co Antrim-born rider was ranked number two in the world for most of last year after winning showjumping's richest prize, the $750,000 Dubai Grand Prix last January.
Kurten could not be present at the awards lunch in Kilcullen today, but Army rider Lt Geoff Curran was on hand to be honoured as three-day event rider of the year.
Other award winners were Anna Merveldt, who took her fifth Irish Field dressage award, pony showjumper Peter Moloney and junior event rider Camilla Speirs.
