The Irish three-day eventing squad at the World Equestrian Games in Germany has been reduced to just four after Mark Kyle's horse failed a veterinary inspection in Aachen.
The 16-year-old gelding, which won last year's Hickstead Eventing Grand Prix, had been suffering from a corn in a front foot and was lame at the inspection, meaning he is out of the competition.
The remaining four Irish horses were all passed fit and now go forward to the dressage phase, which starts today.
