Ireland’s Jessica Kurten has climbed to second place in the latest show jumping world rankings released by the Federation Equestre Internationale today.
Kurten is behind Germany's Marcus Ehning, meaning that she now holds the highest position in the rankings achieved by an Irish rider since the FEI/Gandini Jumping Riders' World Ranking List was introduced six years ago.
The 36 year-old rider has been steadily climbing the world table in recent months, but a run of major successes in Grands Prix and other classes last month has now catapulted her into the top end of the rankings.
Kurten has now overtaken former World Champion and current Olympic Champion, Brazil's Rodrigo Pessoa, who trails behind her in third place.
Over 1600 international riders compete for places in the FEI/Gandini Jumping Riders' World Ranking List.
