Cian O'Connor and ‘Waterford Crystal’ clocked the fastest time in a five horse jump off in this afternoon's Champions Cup at Frankfurt, but a fence down denied them victory.
The Irish duo had to settle for the runners-up spot behind Germany's Bjorn Nargel with ‘Pilgrim’ who were almost five seconds slower but went clear for the win.
O'Connor had earlier slotted ‘Zanoubia’ into fifth place in a speed class to add to the mare's victory on the opening day.
He then pocketed yet more prize money at the three-star
Deutsche Bank Championship of Frankfurt meeting when he steered Irish Independent Echo Beach to 3rd place in the Preis Der Eternit AG this evening
