Ireland's Jessica Kurten cranked up the pressure on the second day of the World Cup show at Olympia, London with a second place in the big 1m60 speed class tonight.

Riding the nine year-old bay gelding Laurus, the Antrim rider finished just under one-and-a-half seconds behind German ace Franke Sloothaak in the Accenture Stakes.

Kurten opened the batting with an eighth place on Thursday in the Welcome Speed Stakes at the English venue.

Earlier today, Ireland's Billy Twomey had a seventh place in the Olympia Pounds for Points competition with Whinny Jackson.

Twomey and Kurten are the only two Irish riders at the London show.
