The Equestrian Federation of Ireland have acted upon their threat to withhold funding from the Show Jumping Association of Ireland.
A request for payment of €90,000 in high performance grant aid for show jumping being refused by the Federation today.
The Federation stated in a letter to the Show Jumping Association last Friday that funding would be withheld until issues relating to the appointment of a manager for the international team and a new director general had been resolved.
It was widely believed within show jumping circles that the Federation's threat referred to funding for the 2006 season.
The rejection of today's request for payment of the second installment of funding for 2005 has come as a serious setback.
The Show Jumping Association has not yet called a meeting of its board of directors to discuss the latest controversy to hit the sport, but today's refusal to pay out funding is expected to produce a response within the next few days.
