Slight improvment for Irish in Rotterdam

The Irish team made a slight improvement today to finish 4th at the Superleague in Rotterdam today.

Switzerland were the eventual winners, with Germany and Belguim finishing joint second.

It has been a poor season for the Irish and they are currently in danger of relegation from the Superleague.

They now need good results in Achen, Hickstead and in Dublin at the RDS, if they are to avoid the drop.

Earlier, the Irish team gave a fine display of horsemanship in this morning's speed class at the five-star event, with a first, third and fifth place.

Harry Marshall was the standard-bearer, stopping the clock in 28.80 seconds on the grey gelding All Shook Up, less than half a second ahead of American runner-up Christine Tibble.

Cork's Billy Twomey brought Killy Jones into third, while Clem McMahon took fifth place with the stallion Hermes de Reve.
