Ireland's Katie Sheldon made an impression during the 2024 PDC Women's Series in Wigan as she reached the final of Event Two.
The Dubliner beat Anastasia Dobromyslova 5-0 in her quarter-final, before meeting Mikuru Suzuki, who she had already defeated in the last eight of Event One on the night.
Sheldon produced a dramatic comeback to win three successive legs as she edged to a 5-4 win but fell short against Netherlands' Noa-Lynn van Leuven in the Event Two decider.
The scores were locked at one apiece following the first couple of legs, but Van Leuven, who is the first trans woman to compete in the PDC Pro Tour, then reeled off four of the next five legs en route to a 5-2 victory.

Meanwhile, Fallon Sherrock, who made history in December 2019 by becoming the first woman to beat a men's player at the PDC World Championships, took the top prize in the opening event of the series with a 5-4 final victory over world number one Beau Greaves.
However, Sherrock was unable to repeat the feat in the second of Saturday's double-header at the Robin Park Tennis Centre after she was knocked out in the semi-finals by eventual winner Van Leuven.

Greaves started Event One impressively and did not drop a leg until her last-16 meeting with Lisa Ashton, which the reigning Women's World Matchplay champion still ended up winning 4-1 and she was also victorious over Van Leuven and Gemma Hayter to set up a final showdown with Sherrock.
A tight tussle between the world's top two saw the score bounce back and forth as Greaves pulled 4-3 ahead but Sherrock, who won four of the last five Women's Series events in 2023, drew level and overcame two match darts to take the win.
