Dimitri Van Den Bergh missed the opportunity to leapfrog Nathan Aspinall at the summit of the Unibet Premier League following a draw with James Wade.

Van Den Bergh delivered two 12-dart legs to move into a 6-3 lead in the concluding match of night nine in Milton Keynes.

But Wade fought back supremely to take the final three legs and deny the 26-year-old Belgian top spot ahead of the break.

Aspinall occupies first place following his emphatic 7-2 defeat of Gary Anderson.

The Englishman finished with an average of 102.4 to extend his unbeaten run to seven matches.

He told Sky Sports: "It was tough going out there trying to beat Gary because I look up to the guy, but I had a job to do tonight and it was a great result for me.

"I am playing well again and every time I go on that stage I think I am going to win."

Jonny Clayton got the better of Michael Van Gerwen to claim a one-sided 7-3 win.

Clayton managed five 180s and finished with an average of 100.2 to see off the three-time world champion's challenge.

Following the defeat, Van Gerwen, who has endured a topsy-turvy year, tweeted: "Tonight sums up my Premier League so far.

"I know I'm not far away but I need to find that consistency. Credit to @JonnyClay9 who punished me. Well played mate."

Elsewhere, Rob Cross ended his campaign with a victory over Glen Durrant.

Both players have already been eliminated, but Cross secured a 7-5 win on Thursday leaving Durrant to become the first player in the history of the event to fail to score a point.

In the night's other clash, Jose De Sousa hit an 11-darter in the deciding set to claim a point in a 6-6 draw with Peter Wright.
