Keane Barry missed out on a full PDC Tour card after losing in the final round of qualifying at darts Q School.

The 17-year-old Meath thrower had won just three games over the previous three days in Wigan but found the form that has brought him world youth titles in the PDC's Junior Darts Corporation and the BDO today.

The Duleek player, who made his PDC World Championship debut last month at Alexandra Palace, dropped just seven legs in a seven-game run to the last four, from which two players secured cards.

However, facing off against Scott Waites in the final, Irish Matchplay champion Barry lost 5-0.

Thirty-seven players from Ireland had entered the four-day event to compete in a field of over 500 players.

Earlier, Lisa Ashton became the first women to win a card on the PDC’s tour.
