Daryl Gurney booked his place in the quarter-finals of the World Grand Prix and has set his sights on going all the way.
The Irish number one gave the raucous support in Dublin plenty to cheer about as he impressed in a 3-1 victory over Joe Cullen.
Gurney briefly wobbled to allow Cullen four consecutive legs, carrying him to the third set, but regained his composure to move into the final eight.
After kicking off the tournament with a win over world number four Adrian Lewis, Gurney is now targeting silverware.
"It's unbelievable, especially after the weekend I had in the ProTour, losing both days at the first round," he told Sky Sports.
"We'll try and go all the way"
"I just said to myself that the only good thing that can happen out of it is that I'm fresh now for the Grand Prix, and the atmosphere in here is unbelievable.
"If you want to come out here and support me every night I'm going to give myself, work 110 per cent and make sure I try and please this crowd and we'll try and go all the way!"
He will now take on 2015 World Grand Prix champion Robert Thornton, who edged past Dave Chisnall in a gripping encounter, who missed five darts to win the match himself.
Thornton is the only former winner left in this tournament and held his nerve against Chisnall’s high finishing to take out 130 and 116 to win 3-2.
Raymond van Barneveld coasted past Steve Beaton 3-0 and will face John Henderson who built upon his shock win over Michael van Gerwen with a 3-1 victory against Alan Norris.
Henderson persevered through a scrappy contest to further extend his surprise run.
