Terry Jenkins came from a set down to book his place in the second round of the PDC World Darts Championship with a 3-1 win over Josh Payne at Alexandra Palace.

The first set went with throw until it was level at 2-2 when Jenkins missed six darts as Payne hit double 20 to move 1-0 ahead.

Jenkins fought back and won the second set 3-1 before taking all three legs in the third to take the overall lead for the first time. He then posted checkouts of 140, 121 and 140 again on his way to winning the fourth set and the match.

Andrew Gilding squeezed into the second round after coming from two sets down to edge out John Henderson 3-2 in a sudden death tie-break win.

Gilding won the final set 6-5 in a marathon match with a neat 75 finish.

In the final game of the afternoon session, 15th seed Benito van de Pas beat qualifier Tengku Shah 3-1 in the first round.
