Three-time darts world champion Martin Adams has revealed he is receiving treatment for prostate cancer.
Adams, winner of the BDO title in 2007, 2010 and 2011, was diagnosed earlier this year and has recently completed a course of radiotherapy.
The 60-year-old, nicknamed 'Wolfie', is scheduled to receive an update on his condition in the coming weeks and insists he is trying to remain positive.
"I've finished my radiotherapy, I'm still on the hormones and I'm waiting for an appointment in November and hopefully that'll be the point the consultant says 'You're doing very well Mr Adams, we'll see you in three months' time'," Adams told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.
"What you don't want to hear is 'Ah, we have a problem'. I've got something I didn't want and I'm trying to get it fixed. Hopefully it's been fixed.
"Generally I feel fine in myself. I'm staying positive, that's all I can do.
"I haven't been able to practice as much as I would like but I'm still playing darts and loving every minute of it and, touch wood, have not had to miss a tournament yet."
