Leading contenders Alan Norris and Robbie Green progressed to the last 16 of the BDO World Championship at Frimley Green.

Second seed Norris, last year's beaten finalist, was made to work hard by Swede Daniel Larsson before winning through 3-2 to set up a clash with fellow Englishman Daryl Fitton.

Larsson took the opening set and recovered from 2-0 down in the third to win it and lead 2-1 in sets, Norris levelled and then won the deciding set after taking all three darts to finish double top.

Green led Lithuania's Darius Labanauskas 2-0 and though he lost the third after a meltdown in the "mad house", missing 10 darts for the set, the Wallasey thrower recovered to complete a 3-1 win despite a 167 finish from Labanauskas prolonging the set into a deciding leg.

The hulking Green, nicknamed "Kong" and a semi-finalist last year, will next face Peter Sajwani who stunned top seed James Wilson in round one.

Gary Robson beat Belgium's Cedric Waegemans 3-0 in the afternoon's other match while the evening began with an upset as American Jim Widmayer beat Dutchman RIck Hofstra 3-1.

Glen Durrant defeated Karel Sedlacek 3-1 and Jeff Smith saw off Wesley Harms by the same scoreline.

In the women's draw, nine-time champion Trina Gulliver enjoyed a straightforward 2-0 win over Holland's Anneke Kuijten and Fallon Sherrock beat Maria Mason 2-1.
