Three-time champion Martin Adams advanced from the first round of the BDO World Championships on Saturday with a 3-1 win over Dutchman Jan Dekker.

Dekker missed six darts at a double when he might have gone 2-1 up, and Adams, who last won the title in 2011, punished him.

Latvian Madars Razma joined him in the last 16 by shocking fifth seed and World Masters champion Martin Phillips 3-0.

Sweden's Peter Sajwani beat Sam Head 3-0.

In the evening session, Dutchman Michel van der Horst overcame Canada's David Cameron 3-2 while Cedric Waegemans of Belgium beat Australian Eddy Sims 3-1.

The final match of the night between Tony O'Shea and Scott Mitchell went the distance before Mitchell won it 3-2 in a sudden-death leg.
