Lara Gillespie finished in 11th place in the women's points race on the final day of the UCI World Track Championships in Santiago.

Gillespie became Ireland's first female track world champion on Thursday when she won gold in the elimination race, pipping Great Britain's Katie Archibald to the title.

The Wicklow native also competed in the women's omnium on Saturday and placed sixth overall.

The tactical 25km track cycling event was won by Mexico's Yareli Acevedo Mendoza, while Great Britain's Anna Morris claimed her third medal of this year's championship taking the silver.

New Zealand rider Bryony Botha took bronze.
