Eddie Dunbar has won the penultimate stage of La Vuelta, holding on on the punishing 20th stage to take his second win of the Spanish Grand Tour this year.
Dunbar claimed the biggest win of his career last month when he claimed stage 11, but the in-form Corkman doubled up on Saturday, taking the coveted 'Queen Stage'.
He took off in pursuit of the leader Pavel Sivakov with five kilometres to the finish on the final climb of this year's Vuelta to Picon Blanco and went on to hold off the chasing group after overtaking the Frenchman.
Spain's Enric Mas came in second with Roglic, who took control of the red jersey after winning Friday's stage, close behind, and the Slovenian now has an overall lead of two minutes and two seconds over Australia's Ben O'Connor.
Team Jayco–AlUla rider Dunbar has suffered injury issues in recent years but is now hitting the form that many expected him to find when at Team Sky.
Sunday's final stage is a 24.6-km individual time trial in Madrid, where Roglic is set to be crowned champion for the fourth time.
Dunbar, who moves up to 11th in the general classification, felt after his first stage victory that he could double up.
"This one definitely feels a bit sweeter," he said after his second win. "I said it to a few people after the stage win last week that it was never the way I expected to win a Grand Tour stage.
"I always imagined winning on top of a climb, from a breakaway or the GC group. I'm just super happy that I could hold on today."
However, the 28-year-old Banteer man disagreed that this Vuelta could be viewed as the start of his career.
"I've had good times and I’ve had bad times and it’s just all part of the process.
"I think there are going to be more ups and there’s going be more downs and that’s just the way life is. I’ve learned that throughout my career.
"Moments like this don’t come around too often. I’ve had two of them now in the last two weeks and I’m just looking forward to sharing these moments and celebrating them with friends and family."
