Tadej Pogacar tightened his grip ahead of the final stage of Tirreno-Adriatico tomorrow, a 10.1km time trial in San Benedetto del Tronto.

The Slovenian now has a healthy 1:15 advantage over Wout van Aert, with stage six won by Mads Würtz Schmidt, his first stage win as a pro.

The Israel Start-Up Nation rider out-sprinted the rest of his breakaway partners after the break managed to hold off the peloton all the way to the line.

Tuesday's concluding leg could serve Pogacar well as he looks to fine-tine his time trial skills that effectively sealed his Tour de France win last year.

"I will race by my feeling and I hope I will do a good time trial because it’s quite important when it comes to time trials in almost every race this year," Pogacar said.

"There are also two in the Tour so it will be good training for the next races."

Irish time-trial specialist Ryan Mullen will also look to make his mark tomorrow. The Trek-Segafredo was more than five minutes down on Schmidt today, but will be focused on finishing the 56th edition of the race strongly.
