Sam Bennett notched up his first win of the season and the 50th of his career as he claimed victory in a bunched finish on the fourth stage of the UAE Tour.

The Tour de France Green Jersey winner would have been targeting today's stage, following the windy opening day, a time trial and Tuesday's mountain finish, and the 29-year-old duly delivered.

His Deceuninck-Quick-Step team-mates led the Carrick-on-Suir rider out perfectly and he prevailed in an exciting sprint finish ahead of David Dekker (Jumbo Visma) and Caleb Ewan (Lotto Soudal).

Bennett now has 20 points on the board in the Green Jersey race, with Dekker leading the way on 43 points.

In the general classification, Tour de France champion Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) retained his advantage over Adam Yates (Ineos Grenadiers).
