Ireland's Sam Bennett was well back on the top finishers in the second stage of the UAE Tour.
The Tour de France Green jersey winner recorded a time of 15 minutes and 40 seconds on the time trial, 1'44 behind stage winner Filippo Ganna.
Bennett is 99th in general classification and has yet to earn a point after being hampered by crosswinds yesterday.
Ineos Grenadiers Ganna completed the course in 13'56.
Tadej Pogacar was 24 seconds behind Ganna but that was enough for the UAE Team Emirates rider to take the overall lead after Mathieu van der Poel, the winner of the opening stage, was forced to withdraw following a positive Covid test.
Ganna's team-mate and defending champion Adam Yates sits fifth overall and 39 seconds off the lead heading into the third stage, while four-time Tour de France winner Chris Froome is nine minutes 43 seconds adrift of Pogacar in a tie for 88th place.
