Sepp Kuss held off a late charge to claim his first grand tour stage win with victory on stage 15 of the Vuelta a Espana in Santuario del Acebo.

The Jumbo-Visma rider attacked on the final climb 6.6km from the finish and did just enough to repel the chasing Ruben Guerreiro (Katusha-Alpecin) and Tao Geoghegan Hart (Team Ineos).

Primoz Roglic maintained his overall lead of two minutes and 25 seconds after matching his nearest challenger Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) who made a move on the final climb.

The pair pushed on to finish eighth and ninth and move further clear of their remaining rivals, including Movistar's Nairo Quintana, who was dropped 5km from the finish and cast further adrift.

Roglic will look to make further inroads when the Vuelta continues with stage 16 from Pavia to Alto de La Cubilla on Monday.

Sam Benett finished at the back of the peloton after yesterday's heroics. The Tipp rider took his second victory of this year's Vuelta when he won a crash-affected stage 14 in Oviedo.
