Sam Bennett notched another podium finish in the final stage of the Tour of Turkey, taking third after a lung-busting sprint into Istanbul and ending the week top of the points classification.

The Tipperary rider only finished outside the top three once, winning the first two stages and notching a second and two thirds. It saw him finish top of the sprint classification with 70 points, 14 more than Australian Caleb Ewan.

He threatened to grab victory on Sunday for Bora-Hansgrohe but Ewan (Lotto-Soudal) edged a breathless battle, pushing Fabio Jakobsen (Deceuninck-Quick-Step) into second and Bennett just behind them in the final 500m.

Bennett had made his move in the last kilometre, surging away from the bunch, but he couldn't hang on.

His team-mate Felix Grossschartner took overall victory on the general classification, ahead of Italy's Valerio Conti (UAE Team Emirates) and Merhawi Kudus (Astana).
