Sam Bennett slipped down the general classification at the Tour of Turkey as his Bora Hansgrohe teammate Felix Grosschartner made his move in Saturday's penultimate stage.

Austrian Grosschartner shone on the hilly trek into Kartepe, winning the stage to take he overall lead.

Bennett, who failed to finish inside the top three for the first time this week, took 86th and tumbled down to 60th in the GC.

He'll go all out tomorrow on the climactic stage - from Sakarya to Istanbul (172.4 km) - with the flat route far more to his liking.

The race was shortened due to snowy conditions, the ascent reduced by 4km.

The final 12.2km climb saw Belgian Remco Evenepoel (Deceuninck - Quick-Step), Grosschartner, Italy's Valerio Conti (UAE Team Emirates) and Marhawi Kudus (Astana) peel away from the peloton and engage in a cat-and-mouse battle.

Ultimately Grosschartner prevailed, holding off Conti and Kudus to take victory and move to the top of the standings.
