Ireland's Dan Martin has taken victory in stage five of the Criterium du Dauphine, coming home four seconds clear of Britain's Geraint Thomas.
The Irish rider accelerated into a sizeable lead with just over three kilometres to go at Valmorel. However, he had to fend off a spirited fightback from general classification leader Thomas.
Adam Yates, who'd made much of the early running in the stage, came home in third, 15 seconds behind Martin.
Martin's win comes a day after being pushed into second place by Julian Alaphilippe in Lans-en-Vercors. It's his first victory since signing to the UAE Team Emirates outfit.
He now sits at 14th overall in general classification, two minutes 26 seconds behind the leader.
It's Team Sky's Thomas that has moved into the lead in general classification following Day 5, with a one minute and nine second lead over Italy's Damiano Caruso.
His Team Sky teammate Gianni Moscon, who held the lead after Stage 4, slipped to third spot in general classification after finishing over a minute behind the leaders.
After all the hard work and so many near misses amazing feeling to get a win. Thanks to @TeamUAEAbuDhabi for always believing. pic.twitter.com/FDFfIfLdYx
