Race leader Alberto Contador began stage seven of the Giro d'Italia despite suffering a dislocated shoulder on yesterday's sixth stage.
The Spaniard was caught up in a big crash in the frantic sprint finish on the 183-kilometre route from Montecatini Terme to Castiglione della Pescaia, which was won by Germany's Andre Greipel.
Contador (Tinkoff-Saxo) underwent tests on his damaged left shoulder last night, where it was confirmed he had suffered a dislocation.
But Contador, who crashed out of the 2014 Tour de France before returning to win the Vuelta a Espana, signed in to start the 264km seventh stage from Grosseto to Fiuggi today.
He wrote on Twitter: "I'll be at the start of the stage. They have protected my shoulder and hope it will not go out again.
"Will be a hard day with 264km."
