FDJ's Thibaut Pinot took victory on the queen stage of the Tour de Romandie as second-placed Ilnur Zakarin took over the yellow jersey.

Pinot was seven seconds clear of Zakarin on the climb to Champex-Lac and moved up to second overall as previous leader Michael Albasini plummeted to 60th after finishing a full 22 minutes behind Pinot.

Team Sky's Nicolas Roche was 17:59 behind Pinot and dropped to 57th overall while Cannondale-Garmin rider Dan Martin's fortunes failed to improve as a 22:30 gap left him 98th after stage five.
