Briton Alex Dowsett is the new holder of the Hour Record after a successful attempt at the Manchester Velodrome.
The 26-year-old from Maldon, Essex was bidding to ride the furthest distance in 60 minutes and surpass Australian Rohan Dennis' record of 52.491 kilometres.
Dowsett recorded 52.937km to set a new margin by a significant distance.
His record may last little more than a month, though, with four-time Olympic champion and world time-trial champion Bradley Wiggins making an attempt in London on June 7.
