Three Irish riders were in action on day two of the Omnium qualifications at the London UCI World Cup.
First up in the morning session was Caroline Ryan in the Women's Individual Pursuit. Ryan put in a solid ride of 3.42 to finish in 10th place. She has already secured her qualification for the Track World Championships in April and will be focusing Olympic qualification efforts on it.
Next up was Eoin Mullen in the Keirn who had the daunting task of taking on multiple Olympic champion Chris Hoy. Mullen rode well but didn't make it through to the next round. He went on to ride in the repechage later that day and was unlucky to crash out. He has one more event - the individual sprint this morning.
Martyn Irvine had three more Omnium events on Saturday. He rode a solid pursuit to finish seventh. Irvine made all the racing in the scratch race with his aggressive style, finishing sixth. In the final event, the kilo, less than a second separated eight riders. Irvine finished ninth and slipped back two places in the final standings to ninth overall.
This result leaves him still on course to secure a place for Ireland at the London Games. Ireland remains the seventh European nation with the top eight gaining qualification. The track World Championships in Melbourne is the last qualifying event.
