Bradley Wiggins has assumed the overall race lead at the Criterium du Dauphine Libere after finishing second on today's time trial.
The Team Sky rider completed the 42.5 kilometre course around Grenoble in a time of 55 minutes 38 seconds, 11 seconds behind HTC-Highroad's Tony Martin.
Ireland’s Nicolas Roche finished back in 43rd place in a time of 58:58, while compatriot Daniel Martin was back in 90th after he finished in 1:00:19.
Today's stage caused a major reshuffle at the top of the overall standings, with overnight leader Alexandre Vinokourov tumbling to fourth place, 1:56 adrift of Wiggins after he was among the victims of early rains.
Cadel Evans has moved up to second place after finishing sixth today, although Janez Brajkovic is breathing down his neck in third after placing fifth.
Roche is 16th over, 3:26 behind Wiggins, while Martin is back in 118th
