Belgian Stijn Devolder took the Tour of Spain lead after German Bart Grabsch won today's eighth stage.
Devolder was third in the flat 52.2-km individual time trial from Carinena to Zaragoza, 48 seconds behind Grabsch. Second was Hungarian Laszlo Bodrogi, 34 seconds back.
The Belgian has a 30-second lead over Russian Denis Menchov, the 2005 winner. Overnight leader Vladimir Efimkin of Russia dropped to third.
The Tour of Spain finishes in Madrid on 23 September.
