Tour de France winner Alberto Contador has denied accusations of doping after he was linked with the Operation Puerto inquiry.
The Spaniard, who rides for Discovery Channel, has found himself at the centre of allegations after German authorities said they had received documents from doping expert Werner Franke which he claims show Contador had taken banned substances.
Franke claims he has in his possession documents from last year's Operation Puerto doping investigation, which allegedly show that Contador had taken HMG-Lepori as a testosterone booster and an asthma product called TGN.
But the cyclist, who has not failed a doping test, has denied all allegations against him after being refused entry into this week's Tour de Germany.
In a statement, Contador said: ‘I won the Tour de France cleanly. It is impossible for me to understand the attacks on me by people who don't know me.
‘I have never committed an act of doping, nor have I been involved in any plot.
‘My commitment is total and I will always be available to collaborate in the fight against doping.
‘I have the backing of the UCI and I will make myself available to the authorities for whichever studies they deem necessary.’
