Italy's Alessandro Petacchi of the Milram team won the 254-km seventh stage of the Giro d'Italia from Spoleto to Scarperia near Florence on Saturday.
Petacchi beat Norway's Thor Hushovd and compatriot Paolo Bettini in a sprint finish on the Mugello motor racing circuit.
Nicolas Roche finished 1:52 behind Pettachi in today's stage.
Italy's Marco Pinotti retained the overall race lead.
Sunday's 200-km eighth stage is from Barberino di Mugello to Fiorano Modenese near Bologna.
