Colombia's Luis Felipe Laverde won the 14th stage of the Giro d'Italia from Aosta to Domodossola on Sunday.
The Ceramica Panaria rider beat Spain's Francisco Perez in a sprint after the pair broke clear of an 11-rider attack that characterised the 220-km stage.
Italy's Paolo Tiralongo finished third, seven seconds behind, while his compatriot Ivan Basso finished in the main peloton, 7:44 behind Laverde but retained the overall race lead.
Monday's 189-km 15th stage is from Mergozzo to Brescia. It is completely flat and is expected to finish in a mass sprint finish.
The Giro d'Italia ends in Milan on May 28.
