Mark Scanlon today finished in the main bunch on the second stage of the Tour of Italy, placing 162nd on the 197 kilometre stage from Mons to Charleroi Marcinelle. 

Victory went to the Australian Robbie McEwen, the former Tour de France green jersey winner beating Olaf Pollack, Olympic champion Paolo Bettini and the rest of the field to the line. 

Race leader Paolo Savoldelli finished safely in the main bunch and thus preserves his 11 second lead over Bradley McGee. Scanlon is 118th overall, 1 minute and 2 seconds back.
