Giant Asia rider David McCann today finished 13th overall in the Telekom Malaysia Tour de Langkawi in Kuala Lumpur.

The Belfast rider had an excellent race, taking third in the points standings, fourth in the King of the Mountains competition and placing second, fourth and seventh in stages.

McCann had bike problems during today's concluding criterium in Kuala Lumpur, being forced to stop when his stem came lose.

He was in course of chasing back on when the race was neutralised due to a torrential downpour.

Visibility problems and slippery sections of road meant that the final stage was ultimately cancelled, although the victory was awarded to Angel Vallejo (Relax-Gam) as he was ahead of the bunch when the rain started.

Final race victory went to South African David George, who beat closest challengers Francesco Bellotti (Credit Agricole) and Gabriele Missaglia (Selle Italia Diquigiovanni) in the 2.HC ranked event.

McCann was 8 minutes and 50 seconds back in 13th place, while Griffin finished 32nd, despite injury.

Their Giant Asia squad was second in the Asian team standings and seventh in the general team classification.
