Denmark's Michael Rasmussen, of the Rabobank team, won the 171km ninth stage of the Tour de France into Mulhouse, after successfully completing a 169km solo breakaway.
German Jens Voigt of the CSC team took the yellow jersey from Lance Armstrong who finished with the peloton.
Voigt had started the day in second place overall at just a minute behind Armstrong, who contrary to yesterday was assured of his teammates' presence throughout the day.
The German, who came over the finish line just behind breakaway companion Christophe Moreau of the Credit Agricole team three minutes behind Rasmussen, pulls on the race leader's jersey for only the second time in his career.
Rasmussen became the 10th Dane to win a stage on the Tour de France, and handed his Rabobank team their second stage win in as many days after Pieter Weening's victory on Saturday.
The 31-year-old Rasmussen from Copenhagen had attacked after just four kilometres of the stage and completed most of it on his own.
