Lance Armstrong took the leader's yellow jersey as his Discovery Channel team won the fourth stage of the Tour de France.

The Discovery Channel team clocked one hour 10 minutes and 40 seconds for the 67.5km team time trial from Tours to Blois to finish two seconds ahead of CSC.

Armstrong was two seconds behind CSC's David Zabriskie at the start of the day but won the yellow jersey because his rival fell outside the final kilometre of the stage and was given a slower time than the rest of his team.

Jan Ullrich's T-Mobile team came home third, 35 seconds off the pace.

"We tried to stay tough, it's a hard event," Armstrong told television reporters.

"The team was unbelievable, everyone rolled through, everyone was great."
