Scanlon sixth in GP Ouest France

Mark Scanlon continued on from his excellent ride in the recent Tour of Denmark when he took a strong sixth place in the top ranked GP Ouest France in Plouay, Brittany on Sunday.

The 22-year-old went clear in a small breakaway group during the 198-kilometre event and selflessly reeled in an attack by Joseba Albizu (Mercantone Uno) inside the final kilometre, setting the stage for a sprint win by his Ag2r team-mate Andy Flickinger.

Scanlon crossed the line in the same time, with the main field over one minute behind. This result is the latest in what has been a very strong first pro season for the Sligoman, and his ride today in this prestigious French semi-classic will further increase his worth within the professional peloton.
