US Postal take stage four

The US Postal team won today's 4th stage of the Tour de France, a 69 kilometre team time trial to St. Dezier. Colombian Victor Hugo Pena took the yellow jersey, he finished 5th in the prologue - two places ahead of his team leader, Lance Armstrong.

Pena began the stage in 9th place, 18 seconds behind Jean-Patrick Nazon and now leads Armstrong by one second. Pena becomes the first Colombian ever to hold the yellow jersey in the Tour.

The result means US Postal now hold the top eight places in the Tour and, although Pena will doubtless enjoy his time in the limelight, four-times winner Armstrong is just one second back and looking a good bet to be wearing yellow himself in the near future. However, the 31-year-old should not count on any favours from his team-mate Pena who was in confident mood at the finish in Saint-Dizier.

"Maybe I will have a little battle with Lance," said the Colombian, before praising the American as the best team-mate in the world . "I would like to dedicate this yellow jersey to my country. Now I can forget about any problems I have and just enjoy the victory." Filed by Johnny Proby
