Australian Robbie McEwen of the Lotto team sprinted to victory on the 10th stage of the Giro d'Italia today, but Germany's Jens Heppner of the Telekom team retained his overall lead. He's 3 minutes 50 seconds ahead of Ukraine's Yaroslav Popovych.
But the day was overshadowed by another doping scandal, which saw last year's winner Italian Gilberto Simoni test postive for cocaine metabolites. Simoni blamed his positive result on a trip to the dentist.
