As part of a new all-embracing four-year strategic plan to develop cycling in Ireland, the Irish Cycling Federation has been relaunched as Cycling Ireland. The radically changed organisation aims to promote and develop all aspects of cycling, as a healthy, enjoyable and friendly lifetime leisure activity for everyone and an exciting sport for both competitors and spectators.
Launching the new plan, Tánaiste Mary Harney said the launch is a benchmark for a new era in Irish sport. Ireland’s most successful cyclists, Sean Kelly and Stephen Roche, both attended this evening’s launch.
