Germany's Marcel Wust just pipped fellow countryman Erik Zabel in a tight finish at the end of today's weather beaten 5th stage of the Tour de France.
Festina rider Wust produced a late sprint to edge out Zabel, clocking a time of 4:19:05 for the 125 miles from Vannes to Vitre in Brittany. Laurent Jalabert, wearing the yellow jersey, having taken over the race lead following yesterday's team time trial, and reigning champion Lance Armstrong both finished in the chasing pack. The peloton, however, were forced to withstand rain and wind for most of the stage which was predominantly flat.
