Hayley Matthews hit an unbeaten 82 as West Indies cruised to an eight-wicket victory over Ireland in the first match of the women's Tri-Nation series at Clontarf Cricket Club.

Hosts Ireland were forced into batting first and they were reduced to 23 for three inside the powerplay.

Orla Prendergast top scored with 25 and provided a 44-run partnership with Leah Paul but that was as good as it got for Ireland who were bowled out for 103 with 17 overs played.

In reply, Ava Canning claimed the wickets of Deandra Dottin and Qiana Joseph inside the powerplay but captain Matthews did the rest of the job as she slogged 82 runs from 44 balls to take West Indies to their 104 target with over eight overs to spare.
