They needed 44 from 23 balls after Gian-Piero Meade (22) was dismissed, but Wayne Madsen (39) and Grant Stewart, who rocketed 33 from 19, secured the historic victory for Italy with three deliveries remaining.
Ireland will remain in Dubai as they continue their warm-up for next month's T20 World Cup hosted by Sri Lanka. On Thursday, they take on the United Arab Emirates in the first of a two-match series, with the second match on Saturday.
